I see that employers are having to raise wages to attract workers now fewer Eastern Europeans are coming?
And will all those on here who shouted me down when I said that un-controlled immigration depressed wages, now apologise?
I think you'll find that wages are now being increased due to inflation (driven by weak pound) and labour shortages than they were previously being depressed!

This is due to shortage of labour, it's not the same at all. We simply do not have the people to do the work. Demand outstrips supply, prices (or in this case wages) go up. There is no evidence that immigration drove them down.

I dont call one million and more full employment. I thought employers were short of workers, it cant be both
Unless you're medically unfit to do work, then a large portion of these one million plus can be put to work

So you know the breakdown of the currently unemployed, and you know better than economist as to what constitutes full employment?

So presumably, if you were unfortunate enough to lose your job through no fault of your own, you'd be happy to be forced to work as a kitchen porter for minimum wage?

Why not? Is there some shame in being a kitchen porter, when you're unemployed? Working doesnt preclude someone from seeking a new job

No shame at all. The point was about being forced to do it, and the fact that you can't actually make ends meet with zero hours contracts and minimum wage anyway.

Better than receiving benefits, wallowing at home. Do work offered or get no benefits, choice.
...oh wait, we're trying to recruit at the moment and the only applicant is an Indian guy, maybe there's no Germans qualified (or willing) to do my job!

Me too
HP flew me over from the UK for my job. Maybe there are no Germans qualified (or willing) to do my job either

Hmmm... do you think sometimes countries could be dependent on migrant workers for high paying skilled jobs and not just the low paid unskilled workers? ;-)

Wash your mouth out!! You can't go round spreading gossip like that on here.
