Default 4 pots to brembo

hi chaps, just had my front 4 pots changed to brembo sti calipers, the thing is and I don't get it, the bite feels if anything less effective? was excpecting quite a difference. they had blue stuff pads and sti discs. they work ok and prob as good as 4 pots. but wouldn't u be expecting a much stronger stopping force.

ok the disks are flat no grooves or holes, the pads are blue stuff, I thought these were good pads? as recently I saw thread on here about fast road pads, the blue stuff had good write up. perhaps I need to try some new pads though as these may be burned a little on surface. got like a glaze on them.

Hi Steve

Have look on this

http://www.asptrading.co.uk/acatalog...ications_.html

Those pads I would recommend, those pads are good like for occasional track days and fast road, great bite from cold and they're not so dusty

Speak with Alyn@AS Performance about the best price and if you have budget then I would get too PF RH665 Brake fluid,we are used like pads and brake fluid and braking has been awesome and transformed,we are previously run DS2500,which has been too dusty for us

Thanks,Jura

The blue stuff pads should give you good initial bite , how old are the discs and pads ? Are they new and need bedding in ?

This!!!.I have personally used the EBC pads in various guises and I don't rate them at all,a change to the pads that Jura recommended I think is the way forward for you,I have used the PF set up now for many years and rate them highly the standard brembo brake disc set up is good for standard power but start to fade badly when used in anger.Just fitting the calipers is half the story, for the whole picture you need the complete set up good disc and pads fluid, lines etc.. And bleed properly for you to fully appreciate the brembos awesomeness.SJ.

age of disks and pads I canot say , looking at the pads theres a good 8mm of meat on them, the disks look to be fairly good condition, although a bit shiny?? I have a feeling they may of been used aggressively as the car was from breakers, prob wanted give it some stick for last drive... perhaps as jura says pad set up needs a change. the pedal travel is good as was before changed calipers so no air in system- so far. I think pads are next thing to try.then possibly some grooved discs from godspeed.

hi sj and fellow readers of my slight brake prob, I didn't try a hard stop as don't want to glaze the pads up, will drive car for a day or 3 and see if they improve if not it will be some new pads pf type I think as u all seem quite happy with these. then I guess disks the grooved versions. my girl friend has a kia and the brakes on that are daft! I asked her could we do swap lol the grab on her car must be 3 x better. mab im expecting bit much.... but thanks for your responces

yip the servo plays a big factor as both my sti and rrs has the exact same calipers where the sti stops you good the rrs throws you through the windows, but the more harder the pedal the better at high speed, as above i run godspeed grooved discs and kevlar pads cant fault them for road use

seems to be some improvement on the stopping power, im braking just as I would normally but can feel a stronger force so mab in next wk or so it will improve and couple that with new pads pf type and summer get some grooved discs I think this change will be of great effect. thanks to all for your advice.

i have ebc blue stuff pads in my classic with the 4 pots on the front. my experiences with these pads are they are ****e for everyday use as they don't work when cold. They are relatively cheap as a performance pad but to be honest, when i warm them up and use them aggressively they are good. i have only had brake fade when bedding them in.....i'm guessing they glazed but soon scrubbed up. I have hammered these pads by doing 4 laps of the ring back to back with no fade. I'm not saying these are the best pads on the market but if your pocket cannot reach AP with endless, these are a good option. get them warm first. They are not for the expert, but if you are an expert then you would not be using 4 pots.

I know what you mean! I fitted sti brembos to my 04wrx and I expected more from them. They do stop well if I stand on them but the general brake force and the initial bite isn't better and maybe even a little worse than the 4pots in my opinion too.

I have just refurbished my 4 pots with new seals and stainless steel pistons supplied by Godspeed. I'm only running oem discs and pads and I just don't see why everyone runs them down so much. The braking on my car is now so good, it feels like the rear end is going to lift of the ground when I really throw the anchors out!

I was running ebc disc and pads before refurbishing everything and I thought they were awful, as I have found every time I have used ebc products on an Impreza.
