Default Mixing tyre sizes

I've got one pair of Falkens on the front and I'm ordering a pair of Vreds for the rear. The size of the Falkens are 215/35/18

I also have an alternate set of alloys that I want to put on the car (the current unuseable tyres that I am getting rid of are 225/35/18). Will my Falkens fit on these rims or will they be too small?

I have been told that I can't put 35 on the front and 45 on the rear but will that apply to width as well? 215 on the front and 225 on the rear. This is the assumption that having a wider tyre is better, to a point.

03 JDM STI

All help appreciated

You need to keep the rolling radius the same, or at least within a certain percentage, normally below 3% is considered acceptable

So, the size difference between your tyres, if I understand correctly, is 5.5%

If you are unsure have a look here

So stick with 35 then. Thanks

Can't find vreds in 225 (haven't been exhaustive though). Hope that the 215 will do the job.

The aspect ratio (the 35) is a perecentage of the width. So if you put 225's on one axle and 205's on the other both with 35 aspect ratio the sidewall height will be different by 6.5mm approx.

So you could use a 'rolling radius calculator' to see the differences between each that you can find.

Sorry, missed your link. Was a statement, hence no question mark.
