Do 18's kill the ride and handling?
I have an STi v3 and having had her for 13 years or so we have had to get her a full trapeze, prompted by some Chav damage, she now looks mint
Sooooo, was thinking of getting some summer wheels to really finish her off. Was think inovit redline ppf7 reps either 17 or 18.
My worry is with 18's will the car be awful to drive? Pulling along every camber and rut? I see a lot of people selling 18 and going to 17.... Is that the reason? Anyone gave a vies on this one or do u hav a classic on 18's and are near Horsham

I read something on this a while ago.
" RCM advise customers to go no bigger than a 17" wheel on a classic gc8 as 18's require lower 35 profile tyre that can make the chassis feel nervous and unforgiving on the road! " (quoted by Matt from from RCM)
guess its just personal preference though..
18's do look great, I went for 17 x 7.5j after weighing up the options of the two diameter sizes. plus I didn't want to pay for the extra costing of the 18" tyres, just me being a tight **** lol

I've tried plenty on my cars (On my 6th set of wheels) and have to agree, 17's just feel that little bit better plus tyres are cheaper and there are more options.
I had a complete nightmare a few years back trying to get 215/35/18 tyres, There were very few in the country, I could only get toyo and falken but didn't want either
Goodyear, Dunlop, Mitchelin, Conti, Vredestien and yoko's were completely out of stock and had no due date. I tried alot of suppliers all over the country and nothing was about.
I had to get a set of goodyears sent over from Germany in the end

I'm running 215/40/18 on my Type R and the handling is fine with them. I didn't want to go for 35 profile as I felt it may be a little harsh. I'd not worry about increasing the rolling diameter too much as you'll probably find the speedo more accurate with the larger tyres lol. It will blunt the acceleration a little though.
