Got a big fat screw stuck in the side of my P1 tyre, cant be repaired and as the tyres are comming towards there lifes end anyway am looking for a new set of 4.
Trouble is......you can't get Toyo or SO2/SO3 in a P1 size (205x45 17") and every dealer I talk to says "I can get you a set of P Zero's"
car has got original P Zero's on at the mo but want something better as I've never been too impressed with them.
Please, please... someone help me out here.... what CAN I get thats worth haveing?

Get some 215 40 17. Then you can have S03/Eagle F1 or Toyo T1-S
This is what most people do and is absolutely fine. Fully loaded you may get a tiny bit of rubbing but this is easily sorted.
I got Eagle F1's (GS-D2 variety) for 340 quid fitted

Depends which PZeros you get: yellow, rosso or the new neros.
Forget about the rossos.
I am surprised you dont like the PZeros. Can you elaborate on that?
I find them very progressive and better grip than most if not all other road tyres. The sidewall withstand severe treatment unlike what I have come to call Shïtstones (!)

Well.... I can only speak for my own experience which is that they have seemed to break away on tight corners rather more easily than I would have liked but the main reason is their performance in the wet, I just don't have the confidence in them to "push it" when it's wet.

I agree about Pzero's -good in the dry, poor in the wet with a fast breakaway.Even managed to spin once on the normal road with them In my experience SO2PP were the best, maybe not quite as good in the dry but far superior in the wet, once scrubbed. Even did a back to back comparison with them at a wet Brands Hatch track day. Pzero's were hilarious (given the space) but SO2's were much more progressive when they let go, which was at a much higher level than the pirelli's. Toyo's are good (cheaper) compromise. I would disagree with Adam about the SO3's as they are already rumoured to be slated for a redesign or even withdrawal to be replaced by the return of SO2's. I've never liked them, and good drivers like SDB or Don Palmer also don't rate them.

Just purchased a set of SO-2PP's mail order, should be on the car by Wednesday (fingers crossed)
I did ask about the F1's but was told by the man in the shop that they wear fast, you gotta understand I have no experience of any of these tyres apart from 2 sets of P Zero's so all I've got to go on is recomendations and gossip. Went for the Bridgestones in the end as they seem to get the most posative mentions, even a recomendation on the SIDC website.

Forgot to mention, the SO2PP's will feel awful for about 200miles, OK in a straight line but take it easy on bends and braking until they are scrubbed. They have a releasing agent to get them out of the molds that is as slippery as a very slippery thing, however when they are bedded in .
Wise choice m8, SO3's are for boulevard cruisers.

I am just running out of life on a set of PZero (Rossos) that came as standard on MY01 UK 300 (PPP). 13,000 miles to date and still a little life left (or death if I push them too hard). I am getting a new set of wheels with Toyos on so will soon have a comparison, then I am going to get the old wheels re shod with different rubber. Then get the three way comparison? I do find the PZeros not so hot in the wet though. Past experience of Bridgestone rubber (on a TVR 4.3 Griff - 289BHP 324f/lbs - 20,000 miles four sets of rubber later) was superb, best overall between wet and dry grip. May try similar out on Scooby as well. Will post my personal results when I tried em all.

If it's any help, I've got just one set left of the 215/40ZR17 S02PP's at £420.00 inc vat and carriage. Or, if anyone can get to Bristol, I'll supply, fit and balance 'em for £440 all in.
If anyone's interested, e-mail me at john.price@protyre.co.uk.

Big mistake going for S02's as they stopped production some time ago, what happens if in 6 months time you get a nail in one of them and can't get a replacement ?
Should have gone for S03, they are really good.

I can do f1 215/45/17 for £360 inc postage
i can also do the uniroyal's 215/40/17 for £320, they are really good, and much cheaper. Hopefully should be able to do the new generation F1's for a similar price, but am still negotiating
s03.... they are **** for hard driving.
Can also get falcons and toyo's... and aint never been beaten on price yet

P Zero's aren't that bad, it's not like they're a bad tyre.... just that there are better suited tyres out there.
All that said.... you got a great deal there for yours

Thats a relief mate.
I got them thru that deal that ATS had in
the national papers. Ordered them on Tues
but the guy tried to tell me the deal had
stopped on Mon! Fair play to him tho' they
ordered them for me at the deal price.
Noticed everyone is talking about Pzero
"rosso" etc. Mine only have "assimetrico"
written on them.
Dougie.
