Question Painting Godspeed Discs??

I have recently got some Godspeed Discs for my brembo's .... nice and shiney now but what about when the rain/water hits them... should I Treat the hub part upto the area that pads go on to protect them?

A friend has done this to his wrx discs in a hamerite black spray paint and i must say they look ok.

Just wondered what people do to keep them looking nice...

Cheers

Not on Godspeed discs, since the ones I have on the front of mine have alloy bells, but on the STi rears, I brush painted the hub part with Hammerite smooth silver.

It'll be getting re-done next week, rain permitting

I'm going to see Ian next week to have 2 pots fitted on the back. How easy is it to paint the middles? Do you just do it carefully by hand, or can you mask off the contact area of the disc? Just worried about putting sticky stuff on the discs??

I painted the rear disc's I got with my Alcon kit with high temp paint and they've been fine now for 6 months !
I painted the middle and out just past the pad contact area of the disc.

Hand paint it, 1" brush etc. As I saiod on another thread, think of the viewing distance, the wheel in the way and the muck it usually is caked in

Cool Painted!

I painted them with some hammerite paint in black, we masked off the contact area and sprayed with spray can, very thin coat then build this up with about 3 attempts.

We have done WRX brakes front and rear and they have lasted fine, mine now done on the Sti Discs and they look very good, il post some pics up to show you.

Leon

Some good work there! How did you get them so round!

Would they not have an adverse affect on the cooling of the discs?

"O" level physics should tell you that the black area will radiate heat out quicker than the shiny silver

Even better if it were MATT black.

But black also absorbs heat better too. You're also adding another, somewhat insulating, layer between the disc and the air around it.

Absorbs heat from where? The surroundings?

The insulation property of a thin layer of paint is more than compensated for by it's better ability to radiate heat, trust me.

The only thing i would do is clean the paint off of the disc to wheel mating surface as unlees that is perfect it will eventually show up and you'll be on to Ian about warped rotors. but yes they do look nice.

To get it neat I spent some time masking it off :-) I had asked Ian if it was ok to paint them and apparantly it is. It is a very thin layer of paint, just to stop the rust really, the brembo's on the rear seem to be painted (all be it from factory)

They did smoke the first couple of runs, (not braking hard either) this I presume is the greese and or any other stuff burning off as they are brand new.
