What size spacers can you run without longer studs?

Just wondered what the largest size spacer you can run without longer studs, have done a search and come up with various answers.

i got 5mm on mine and i get 7 turns on the thread which is just under whats safely required, but the wheel no longer sits on the hub so all the weight is on the studs which im not keen on.
