Default EBC Red Stuff - made from milk or dark chocolate?

Just got back from a day buying new front discs and pads after I had some massive brake fade on the weekend with said EBCs.

I took the STI over to Subaru just to check what might be up and the pads have "overheated and are shot" and have likely knackered the inside of the discs.

All this after 3000 miles of regular driving...

To put this into context my original pads lasted over 40,000 miles.

I've replaced them with Brembo high performance pads and Brembo grooved discs thanks to the lovely people at Scoobyparts who had them in stock and Subaru fitted them all this afternoon so full credit to Olney Subaru as well.

Now, on to my less than happy rant at the pads I've replaced. How can these pads last less than 10% against the OEM (****ty) pads? I'm utterly pissed off with EBC and will be writing to them at my shock at a product which I thought would be up to the job. I expect this if I'm thrashing around on track days but motorways and going to the shops/gym/work is not exactly the 'ring.

Has anyone else had this frankly pathetic life from EBC Reds?

Glad to be of service, I suppose I've been out for an hour to bed in the Brembos and I've already got more stopping power than the old ones. Lots of initial bite and no fade. It just feels more natural and thankfully I don't have to plan 2 miles ahead coming up to roundabouts

Yep, about 5 years ago in my Civic Type R and not touched them since.

Best pads I have had on the Impreza have been PF.

Odd, Mark. I had Greens on my CTR and found them to last for ages. Lives 'n' learns

I wrote up a review on them a few years ago now.

I think the title was something along the lines of EBC Reds AKA Chocolate brakes

EBC YellowStuff"R" on the other hand are very good.

Similar experience myself although it was with the yellow stuff pads. I also switched to Ferodo DS2500 and will not use anything else.
