I run the Hankook RS2's on track on my Fabia and they are pretty good for such a cheap tire.

Eagle F1 are always a good choice, but expensive and known to wear fairly quickly.

Toyo T1R/S are a good budget compromise, but again, wear quickly and aren't as good as F1's.

Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta are very well respected by all who have them, being excellent wet or dry. Being quite new to market I don't think many have worn a set out yet so we don't know how soft they are.

Uniroyal Rainsport are simply amazing in the wet, but if you are capable of pushing a car so far you can feel what the tire is doing on the road surface, I found the thin tread pattern squirms in extreme situations which reduced my confidence in them in the dry.

Avon tires are usually well respected, but I have no experience of them.

At the cheap end, Falken, Federal and Nankang, along with Hankook are all well worth their low prices. Fulda are actually Goodyears budget brand and their tread patterns and compounds are just older Goodyear tires from a couple of years back.

Speak to a tire specialist, maybe Motorsport Wheels and ask for tires with a harder compound. There is a figure marked on the tire wall which indicates how tough the rubber compound is. When I replaced some Hankooks recently with Nankangs the fitter informed me that they would have slightly less grip but last longer due to the harder mix and pointed out the figure, but I can't recall what the figure is and which one it is amid the myriad of stuff written on the sidewall.

You could also consider improving your driving. A smooth fluid style will wear tires and other components much less than tail-out drifting, and it's much quicker too. Look at in-car footage of either Jensen Button or Lewis Hamilton to see how little effort they put in compared to other F1 drivers

Bez was driver of the day at Scoobysprint, his "drift" lap was 5 seconds slower than his serious one.
