Default Need Urgent 4pot help!??????????

Hi

I need urgent help on a brake problem im having and cant seem to find an answer anywhere. I have a 1995 WRX (not STi).

I bought 16'' SSR wheels for it and 4 pot STi brakes from Jap performance parts, the wheels fit with the calipers on and there is no problem in clearance around the diameter of the wheels. The problem is that as the wheel goes on, although it is flush against the hub its also flush against the "subaru" on the caliper and therefore rubs.

Ive looked into a 10mm spacer but ive heard these put immense stain in the axels and bolts.

Does anyone have a solution to fit these 4pots and can it be done on a standard 95' WRX?

Your help would be HIGHLY appreciated!! (n4vd33p@hotmail.com)

I fitted 5mm eibach impreza specific spacers to my RA, had no wheel vibration problems at all. Mine were catching more than yours by the sounds of it, and 5mm was plenty.
Get some ally sheet, cut it into squares, and tape them to the hub, stack them until the wheel clears the calliper, then measure the ally stack, to see what spacer you need.
I fitted cheap rubbish spacers first, and had lots of wobble issues.

to see what size spacers you need , fit a series of washers on the wheel studs , and try the wheels on , when they clear just measure the total of thickness of washers used.
If your going the spacer route , I would definately fit the hubcentric ones and not the cheap halfords type ones.
Also bear in mind you may need to fit longer wheel studs , the nuts need to go on at least 6 full turns

I'm running 17" wheels, but the old 16" speedlines had the same problem, and cleared fine with the 5mm spacers.
I had 7 full turns on the nuts after fitting the spacers, but as i had alloy lightweight wheel nuts, i fitted extended nuts just to be sure.
If you do fit new studs, you'll need 12x1.25mm thread, the standard stud length is 47mm.

Excellent thanks for the replies guys. Im swaying more towards the spacer route now. Just one more question (sorry to be a pain). Are they safe as far as strain on the axels and other parts in close proximity go? and if i need extended bolts, do they replace the standard bolts?

(ok 2 questions.... i just want to get this right)

Thanks this is HIGHLY appreciated!!

The suds are quite an easy replacement for the standard studs, just spin a nut onto one, and knock it out with a hammer.
I've had no issues with spacers, it's only 5mm, fitting a wheel with a wider offset would be the same.
