235 width tyres OK on an 05 STI?
I'm thinking of ditching the gold wheels on my O5 STI and am considdering replacing them with a set straight off of an 08 STI (same wheel just silver). These seem to come with 235/45/17 Dunlop SP Sports fitted , the tyres on my car at the moment are 225 wide . Can you forsee any problems with the slightly wider tyres ? Would the Dunlop's feel OK on a blobeye ?
many thanks

I have 235s fitted to my 06 STI.
I use Michelin PS2s.
The thing is, that I have noticed the 235s are about £25 extra per tyre, which is a lot for less than half an inch of tread.
I assume this is because 225 is a more common tyre size.
Have you noticed a similar price differential with other brands of tyre?

I was told that 235's only came as factory fitment. I am surprised to hear you can get 235's here. Are they the right wall strength? I don't think I will pay 25% more for them, though, even if they are the correct spec. 225's are standard and there is more choice.

i'm planning to fit 18x8.5 wheels, and 235/40/18 tyres are the recommended choice for the wheel width - people run anything from 225 to 255 on them as far as I can see. Currently on the standard 17" wheels and 215/45/17 Bridgestones.
As recommended on here I'd like to switch to Uniroyal Rainsport 2s, but no one does them near me. Eagle F1s are my safe choice.
In the meanwhile just ordered a couple of OE Potenzas from blackcircles. Seems like a fair price and a good system! Fitting with a new place on Friday.
