I think you will find most people will choose Toyos, S03's or GY F1's before either of the Pirellis.....

Lenny,
i replaced my P-zero's with the Toyo T1-S, and have found them much better dry and wet ( 4x 225/40/18 £470 all in)

Just bought a set of F1's at £90 each inclusive. The difference is amazing, much quieter, no tramlining, well recommended.

went for the F1's as the Toyo tyres are more difficult to source. i.e. In an emergency Kwik Fit could supply an F1, albeit at some vastly overinflated price.

TYRES TYRES TYRES......

I just replaced the original RE-011's on MY01 WRX for Bridgestone RE-711's....
They are one step down from the S0-2/S0-3 and are very highly regarded..Very very soft and very aggressive pattern...
What a shock......
Does anyone out there take into consideration the stiffness of the Sidewall of the tyre.
Unfortunately the RE-711 has a softer sidewall than the Re-011 and as such the car drove like a pig. It understeered like buggery and the fantastic handling the REX used to have was all but a memory.
Thank heavens for the guys at Bridgestone who happily removed the RE-711's after 2500km of **** driving and put back the originals.
IE: Brand Spanking new Re-011's..
Tramlining doesnt exist ...so I assume it will come back once the tyres have nearly run their course.
I wouldnt even muck around with S0-3's or any other tyre.
MY OPINION...
Subaru work very closely with Bridgestone and do not compromise on tyres. After stuffing around with other tyres ....trying to find an extra what? The car sticks like Glue as it is
See the STI WRX...it has RE-040...same tread pattern as Re011 but it has a softer sidewall.
Now with firmer suspension...it can cope with a softer sidewall but the standard WRX cannot.
Do yourselves a favour and put the RE-011's back on when getting new tyres.
As for TOYO......dream on.
Me I like Formula 1 technology.....
Cant recall Toyo putting tyres on any race car let alone Formula 1.

I repeat....tramlining will only occur when your tyres are worn.....and its not unique to the Re-011.

Subaru put RE011 tyres for reasons of economy. The RE011 is a cheaper tyre to make and sell than the S03.

Must make a note, S03 is inferior to RE011.........yeah, right

Funny, because I replaced my RE011's with S03's, and I only noticed a vast improvement

Dave...
I agree..
The S0-3 is a better tyre and Subaru didnt out themon due to cost...but I wouldnt try any other brand of tyre...so its Re-011 or the S0-3.
The S0-3 is miles ahead of the Re-o11...I know..
In my case it was either pay $1200 or $2200.& they dont last as long..& I cant get them in my size yet in Oz..soon I am told.
So again I fully agree that the S0-3 is a far superior tyre to anything..
Its the guys that try out toyos that drive me mad...coz they cant be that good..

Thanks for that

We are running 18" S03's on my MY01, and Toyos on Carolyn's, and had Pzero Rossos on hers previously.

IMVHO, the Toyos are very good, especially in the wet. I would put S03 first, but I don't think the Toyo is far behind (and I do test them well).

Incidentally, in the UK TVR have just specified the Toyo Proxes T1-s as original fitment on the 190mph Tuscan S......

Interesting thread. Any other opinions, as I don't find my standard fits very confidence inspiring.

Question

After 13000 miles the front tyres are scrubbing and I'm bored with tramlining!

I have the standard alloys and the Prodrive geometry settings.

I've been quoted £150 each for Pirelli P Zeros (asymmetric) or P7000s (directional).

Any ideas - either of the above?? Toyos??

Someone must know!

Cheers,

Lenny.

(Search facility is down at the moment so can't check if this has been debated ad infinitum)
