I get my p1 on saturday.I want the 18" wheels, but could you tell me if I would be making a mistake, changing from the original 17" wheels. Is the ride alot harder, does the car handle any different.Does anybody want a set of 17" anthracite wheels(mint con)about 3/4mm tread on.

Cheers.

Hi
Depends on what kind of driver you are and which roads you frequent.
18" -very harsh ride, expensive tyres + great on the smooth roundabouts
17" -looks a bit small, tall side wall flexes + cheaper tyres, better on mixed uk roads.
Hope this may help
Matthew

I didn't notice much difference in the ride quality.

Much more grip though, but perhaps a little less feel than with the 17's

Ady,
To be quite honest I don't really know how much there worth.I am waiting to hear from the dealer I'm buying my car off.He has told me he may be able to do me a deal.I wrote an e.mail last night and had a reply off somebody(forgot his name) but he said I'd get 700 guid for them(he got over 900 quid for his). What were you thinking?
The wheels are mint there only 10 months old. When would you want them?
What time is the shootout?

Cheers.

Wink

I've just put the 18" on mine (the 17"s Antracites are in my garage in Scotland if anyone want to make me an offer - unmarked and with 3 P Zeros with 3-4 mm tread (blow-out on the 4th triggered the upgrade)).

ride is noticeably harder but not as harsh as I had been led to believe. what has surprised is how much better it corners, and in the wet (although the Eagle F1s must be contributing to this). Have not suffered any overt tramlining yet even though some of the roads up here are pants. Having had an Elise in the past that was a constant fight on Derbyshire roads, however, I'm not the most sensitive to these things!

I'd disagree re tyre prices - they're not much more for 18s, whether they last as long I'll have to see....

car looks better with the 18s on although the rolling diameter is only ever so slightly more (basically bigger wheels to avoid kerbs with and skinny tyres).

Overall very pleased with them and surprised at the handling improvement when cornering.

Gordo,
What size tyres have you got on? I've been led to believe that you can only put 35 profile tyres on the p1,any bigger catch. Also how much are you selling your 17s for, just to give me an idea as to how much to ask for mine incase I decide to change.

Cheers.

tyres are 225/35/ZR18s

no problems catching etc - have heard of it on other models but not the P1 (it was supposed to have these on anyway).

have no fixed price in mind for the 17"s - will be interested to see what people want to offer.

Gordo, Oliver T,

I would be interested in any of the sets of 17" wheels. I have been quoted £900 for a brand new set of 17" Gold Oz Seperleggeras with 4 Toyos and am presently getting the money together.

However I would be willing to pay £450 for Oliver T's ( I realise you may not find this ideal when you have mentioned 7-900 above)

And could only go to £400 for Gordo's ( New Tyre will cost me £100+)

Im not trying to insult either of you so please forgive me if you think Im taking the michael its just in light of the good deal on offer for the brand newies that brings me down in what I can offer for the seconds.

Cheers.
