Default 205/45/17 vs 215/40/17??

i'm going finally to go for the 17", i'll fit toyo t1-r, but can't chose from 205/45/17 of 215/40/17?
i've calculater the outer diameter and it's only 1% difference so they'are both good for.
Wich size would be best suited??

Most people use the 215's, however, prodrive originaly fitted the 205 45's to the rb5's i think..... but there's more choice in the 215 40's......

Strangely, my 215/40 17"'s were cheaper to buy than the 16" tyres it had before.

it's because 16" size a rare sight now, most people go to 17" so lot more tyres produced instead of 16" .
cheer mate!

I went for the 205/45, more side wall making it a little more comfy.

The price was the same for 215/40 too.

Prodrive chose it for a reason....with your STi suspension, I would defo go for 205/45

your speedo will show you about 61.5mph instead of 60mph because your sidewall is to small.

I had a set of...I hope your sitting down....Antyre's!!!!

They were ****e but they were part of a Halfords wheel tyre package.

The toyos are superb, very grippy in the wet or dry and they've firmed up the ride.

Id recommend them.

Cool, sorry I didn't realise you had a wrx, which has a more civilised suspension. when I went from 205/50/16 (ie: hard) to 215/40/17 (even harder ) I shortly started to hate the car....that is why is on Eibachs now....
