Question Mintex 1155... or... Ferodo DS2500 ???

Right then, this thread will hopefully act as some kind of petition...

Based on what I've read so far, the above pads seem to be the best ones for regular fast road work. Can people please post what they think/know works best (other interlopers like Pagid, Tarox, etc. welcome too) and when the thread grinds to a natural halt, the pads with the most votes will be the ones I upgrade to.

Fire away people... please, or otherwise I'll look a bit daft!...

IMHO DS2500s are way better than the Mintex 1155. Tried both and the Ferodo performs better, makes less noise and generates less dust.
The Mintex is a much cheaper pad though so maybe a bit unfair to expect similar performance.

However, for similar cost to the DS2500 you can get the Pagid RS 4.2.1
The Pagid is the best pad I've used to date - simply outperforms the others.
Fantastic stopping power and haven't been able to reach their limit on my favourite roads (don't do track days). Wear/pad life seems very good too - have had them on for nearly 5K miles now and I'm pleasantly surprised by how much they aren't wearing. As a result, brake dust isn't much of an issue either.

Worth speaking to Alyn at AS Performance for some really good advice. Alyn's also currently doing Ferodo DS2500 and Pagid RS 4.2.1 at the same price just now too .

Cheers,

Stewart.

Had Ferrodo DS2500, much better than EBC, but not great feel from pedal and fade a bit to be honest - I did not really like them after all the good reviews I read - bit of a disappointment. Paid £145

Now on Mintex 1166 - was unsure at first, was going to get 1155 but Steve at CAS Motorsport advised me, and how right he was. They are excellent - better feel than DS2500, do not fade, not bad at all from cold, only squeel a bit when new and dust is not bad either. Will be buying these again. Paid £120 fitted. I will prob get shot down but Ds2500 are a bit too hyped up and not really all that to be honest mate.

Had the ferrodos which ate my disks. Then got some Pagid RS 422 for Alyn which are better on the disks and just as good as the ferrodos.

Question

Thanks people.

So all in all, it appears that the Pagids are shading it. I do intend to uprate my '93 WRX's 2-pots to the later 4-pots soon, but will probably upgrade the pads for my existing calipers in the meantime...

So can anyone tell me the correct Pagid pad pattern which fits the front 2-pot (the curved pad with the square cut-outs at the ends) - is it 4-2-1 or 4-2-2?

Cheers.
