Question

Mine is MY99 with 4-pots.

Any comments/info on brake pads for fast road use...my preference would be to use something from the following stables Mintex, Ferodo, Pagid, Brembo, STi.? Not interested in anything reconstituted from the used heatshield off a Shuttle !!!!!! There is some real iffy stuff out there.

What about track use with std. 4-pots ?

I have just fitted a set of Mintex 1155 pads to the 4-pots on my car. In the past i have used hard Mintex pads [M171 material] on other cars, so expected some trade off between fade resistance and stopping power whilst cold , with the 1155's. I bought them from Falkland motorsports in Scotland [ good, fast service] for £60 before the VAT. I have to say i am really pleased with them, and they seem to have no problem stopping from cold, and really bite well. as with all mintex pads, loads of dust on your alloys, but well worth it. I haven't had the standard pads, but a set of Mintex non-competion type pads and I was getting fade with them , but no problem with these.
Regards, Mark

i highly recomend ferodo DS2000 pads.

i have used these on my cossie(350BHP) for road and track use and have found nothing that comes close for instant response, consistency and lack of fade, they also have inbuilt heat shelds to stop you boiling your fluid.

They are going on my impreza sport ASAP

I know this may sound like another one of those 'pro Croney/Scoobysport' cheap commercials, but for as long no one else but Pete does it(as well, that is!), so be it.

Pagid RS (Blue) pads combined with braided brake lines and proper racing brake fluid have made a HUGE difference on my car in all possible aspects of brake pedal operation (meaning progressive and easy to increase power/travel) and braking efficiency itself (the car actually STOPS OR SLOWS DOWN as, how and when you want it to do so). As simple as that.

There are decent cheaper arrangements available, but I do not discuss price and percentage of result when something like brakes are in question. Whatever is the most effective is used no matter what the cost may be. It does help staying alive if your car brakes and stops properly.

q.

PS. All this, of course, applies for as long as a complete pckage such as AP or Brembo is installed which, again, should move the goalposts further. Track days or not, it is always worth if you can pay for it.
