After 15,000 miles my original front pads were remarkably thin so it was replacement time.

My dealer quoted £135 + VAT + Fitting (at £60 p/hour!) for Mintex ones in the same formula as the Prodrive upgrade. This was only about £20 over the cost of the standard ones so I now have Mintex ones (and £207 less dosh).

After the advised 50 mile running in period I decided to test them out. The difference is substantial when braking from speed. Certainly worth changing for any 4-pot brake equiped car as a replacement and probably for those of you wanting a cheap(ish) upgrade.

I will be changing the hoses/fluid in the near future and the disks are being monitored as they are heat cracked. Anybody know a good garage in SW London / Surrey who don't charge a fortune?

Andrew, What compound of Mintex pads are you using? I've got M1144 in MY93 WRX and although adequate for most 'enthusiastic' driving I don't think they're up to a serious flogging!

I think the Prodrive approved pads are M1155, but as usual I have been wrong before
