Default Tyres keep losing pressure

I know that tyres lose pressure over time - but I've never had it as bad as I've had with my current wagon.

I'll go a couple weeks without losing any pressure, then overnight my front tyres will lose anything from 3 psi to 10 psi. Then it will be fine for a while - then I'll go through a few weeks when everynight it loses some air.

All my previous cars could go for weeks on end without losing any air.

The air lose has continued even after I had the front tyres changed. However, I'm not sure if the valve was replaced on them.

Question is, could the valve be working fine depending on where the wheel stops - but bleed air otherwise? i.e. no air loss when the car is stationary and the valve is at 9 o'clock, but air loss when the car is stationary and hte valve is at 6 o'clock?

I've not driven my wagon for a week now (knackerd back) and when I left it a week ago my fronts were at 34 and rears at 32. Tonight the fronts were at 21 and the rears at 28 and 30. But I bet I can go the next week and not much - or any air will be lost. Weird!

I've ruled out anyone bleeding the tyres for a laugh.

Cheers
Richard.

If the tyres have been changed then you have the seals or 'possibly' porous rims? No idea if the latter is a valid one but an option none the less.

Thumbs up

Take to a decent backstreet tyre place, get them to take the tyres off, rub down the inside of the rims , seal it, replace tyres and Bob's your uncle. Its usually crap and bits of rubber etc building up on the inside of the wheel that stops the tyre sitting properly. My car did it about a year ago - did the above and no probs since.

Had this problem with my old Peugeots alloys. Turned out I had gone down one too many potholes and the seal around the tyre didnt hold fast as the rims were very slightly bent.

Sent the alloys off for a refurb and they were as good as new.

Man I feel your pain. I had a pothole near me on a bend take out my 2 left wheels, in turn sliding me into a slanted curb (lucking the curb was angled, not 90 degrees to the road!). The wheels were beautifully buckled as seen when stuck on a balancing rig but something else got damaged, which in turn makes the car vibrate like a complete SOB at high speeds, between 80-100 especially. 2 mechanics, new wheels and a full 4 wheel alignment haven't sorted it. Going to be taking her to Cheam Motors as noone actually seems vaguely interested at properly looking at whart could be causing it . Been trying to get someone so sort this for almost a year now

Had the rims cleaned today - all four wheels, tyres back on, balanced, took 45 mins and cost £39.95

Thanks to drb5 for the garage recommendation.
