Just got a new set of FCP1562H from Alyn. I notice that the edges of the pad are finished a lot better that previous sets. The old ones look as if they were stamped out and uneven, the new ones look as if they've been machined.

Unlikely. Won't be fitting until March when I do my regular 6 month brake dismantle/clean. I already clean up (file) any rough edges on new pads, this makes them slightly looser in the caliper and less likely to get jammed with dust. I do find that after 6 months use one or two of my pads are a little bit trapped and it always feels better for a good clean and copper greasing.
