Just split the sidewall on my front Pirelli P-Zero after catching a nail at speed on the motorway. 13K miles on these weren't bad but I'm changing to something better in the wet.

So far I've got
£87 each all in from Halfords/AA for Avon 215/40/17

Anyone know any better deals on better tyres?

You may have seen this in another post, but I'd suggest trying Bracknell Tyre & Battery on 01344 411323. They did me 205/50 16 F1 GS-D2 for about £70 all in, though I don't know how the price of 17" compares...

J mate, Bracknell Tyre and Battery are by far the cheapest around here for tyres.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GET AVON

They are awful tyres and very dangerous, no wet grip whatsoever and dry grip is terrible too - I had one before and it was so bad, I replaced it when it was hardly worn. Got the Eagle F1 GS-D2 to in 205 50 16 for 70 quid each, the 17s are around a tenner more or so. These were voted joint 1st with S02 in the Autoexpress Tyre Survey.
Let us know how you get on mate.

IMHO The F1 is an excellent tyre, i have had two sets now and will replace with them again.

Right there on now and I'm taking it easy til they bed in properly.......

Got them from Humphries on the Bagshot road near KFC for £320 all in for 4 x 215/40/ZR17 Goodyear F1's. Bracknell Tyre&Battery were close with £330... Felt the service at Humphries was excellent.

Thanks to ScoobyJawa & GEJL for the info. (ScoobyJawa - just in case you buy the parts for a brake upgrade separatelyy Andy at Humphries said he did fitment only to a Scooby last week)

Also thanks to Graham, for letting me know a third place in Binfield. Got the email after I'd comitted to Humphries

Cheers all

J

Hey J,

Cheers for that - I'm off up to Tyres Northampton next sat so they'll fit em for me, along with my Defi Boost Gauge , but cheers anyway!!!

I've used that Humphries for Emmas exhaust on her 106, must say we were both impressed with the service in there. And they don't try to flog you stuff for the sake of it either, they take time to show you whats what. Very good :-D

L8rs mate
