Urgent advice needed!! - Dealer fitted an incorrect size tyre
Hiya,
Well, didnt think this would be my first post but I'm after some help.
As part of te deal on my new 2005 STi I had the Prodrive 18" PFF7 wheel and tyre package fitted. Tyres ar Michelin Pilot Sport 235/40/18
Car didn't feel very poised yesterday and was lurching during gear changes as throttle was lifted and applied.
I have seen this before on a car when one of the tyres has been low on pressure so I had a look at the tyres and thats when I noticed....
Nearside rear is actually 255/35/18.
I know I need to get this sorted immediately, dealers service/parts dept is shut.
What I need advice on is that 255 is huge, can i safely drive about 20 miles through country roads to a tyre fitter to sort this or are we looking at getting sooby assistance to come and take the car there? (Is this width likely to be causing damage to the car in any way?
Is there any visible marking on the alloy to check that it is the same size as the others? - don't want to get this is a tyre company to find the alloy is actualy different size as well?
Thanks,
Scott

Scott, as long as it's not rubbing anywhere, it should be fine, the two sizes are in fact only 1.2% different in rolling diameter. checked here... http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresize.html
So, with that in mind, just drive sensibly and all should be well...... what a muppet of a dealer to do that wrong!!!

I think the alloy only comes in the one size!
The dealer would probably had to order these tyres, probably been supplied wrong and the fitter hasnt even looked at then when they were put on!!

Thanks for the replies guys. Was eventually told to call Subaru Assitance who were very helpful but did not want me to drive the car.
They sorted me a hire car for Saturday - Monday, and had a flatbed turn up at 8am as promised this morning to take the car over to the dealers.
Can't fault Subaru Assistance, that was very well handled.
Dealer sorting the wheel out now.
