I run Toyo T1R in the winter, biggest issue are they are a softer compound so wear quicker. I run Michelin Pilot Sport in summer as they are great for handling and wear, just a bit expensive when replacing

MY03 WRX. Used to run Toyo T1S but now have F1 GSD3 and MUCH prefer them. Less fidgety on the twisties (I think the technial term would be improved lateral stability/grip?) and very stable under hard braking. Also much harder to wheelspin, which, though it may be less impressive noise/smell wise to some age/mentality groups, is much better for the quick getaway.
Oh, and Merry Xmas everyone.

There are no real best tyres, most of it depends on what you like rather than what people say.
To me, the best tyre is the Bridgestone RE070, because they give ME what I WANT.
But what do you want from your tyres?
Also when buying, ensure you get the right load weight, if you dont, and the F1's suffer from this, they can crack on the inside (incorrect type for the car, not the tyre).

Have always sworn by Toyo's... Until now.
Got offered some Hankooks this year for free so I thought what the hell for the price its worth a go. Anyway long story short with a very regularly used 350+ bhp I can honestly say they are awesome. Wear seems to be good, grip is very good and when you are on the edge of grip the tyres let go very progressively. Grip in the wet is very good too.
For around £75 a tyre, when you pay for them, (215 35 18's) they seem to be a very good option indeed.

I use Michelin Pilot Sport 2's on my 02 STI...
I was told about them by my mate who uses them on his wrx and I rate them highly... performance in the wet is 1st class.. they grip like hell!
and of course, they sell them at costco far cheaper than the shops!
Highly rate them mate!
