Seeing as the tyres do so much then his 245 section adds about another 40mm width per wheel than the Impreza...

Driver ability can beat Roy no matter what he has, as was proven many times when he was in a similar car to a fellow competitor who took seconds off his time.
I've just watched your video clips at Prescott and indeed when I was there last. Keeping your foot in for a little longer on approach to the corners is all that is needed to beat that Evo time and time again. (Particularly the Esses).
Maybe look at a scary set of brakes instead? (Assuming you haven't).

Spoon, good to have an observer!
That approach to the Esses is a lot trickier than it seems, and I stuffed my 911 into the approach bank some years ago
Running on 16's limits my options on the brakes, but I think you are right about diving in later to a corner (I'm scared enough already) but when i see Roy running he drives MUCH harder than i do. He also trailers the car there except for Prescott; I drive the Sti there and back home.
Thanks for the comments, refreshing.

Graham, observing like a hawk helped to secure 1st and 2nd overall in the championship the year I ran 2 cars.
In my opinion Roy doesn't drive that hard. His car is better than he his. You can beat him with more commitment into the corners. I appreciate that's easier said than done if your bottle is rattling now but you can beat him.
Cars trailered to events will always hold the psychological advantage but you either need to join them or commit more and risk the consequences.
Winning is tough but losing is tougher.

LOL so so true.
You have to have been in the driver's seat to appreciate how close things are (or seem to be)
Everyone always says 'nice steady run that' to me!
Come next April when we all start again I will remember your words (and kind advice).
Regards, Graham.
ps so what racing have you done/do?

I've done the drivers seat thing in fact I started racing competitively at the age of 9 but due to an accident hurting me more than it did the scene, I decided to sponsor.
Hillclimbing and sprinting was the chosen route for a few years with many wins and class records.
If less people actually said 'nice steady run' and were more constructive in comparisons between competitors then times would fall.
I've had my drivers looking at me in disbelief in something I might have pointed out, but it never failed to improve a run the next time.
If you get the chance next year then go to the Isle of Man and let rip, oh and give Doune a go too.

Oh no, not another Doune direction!
I've been 'told' to do Doune, but it is a long way (remember I drive it to track on the road) but it could be worth hire of a trailer for that weekend.
There is a lot of after race banter as you know but very little comment of substance, this is why the videos and pics are so helpful. They are not to stroke the ego!
If you get to any of the Midland hills please come and say hello.
Graham.

Mark, doune is in Sterling, and that is a long way from you. Anyway, with that wizzo car of yours you will kill me (but maybe we should!)
Are those the real Avon hill climbing slicks?
If so, then with my supposed 407 bhp/340 lbft and a stock Sti trans, the box will pop apart at the first start I think.
Then its a 6 speeder etc etc etc as you well know.
A friend reconed he took nearly 2 seconds out of his road tyre time at the 60 second Loton Hillclimb.
Will you do the new Subaru Sprint and Hill climb Championship next year?
