I have an Sti V3 with stock 4 pot brakes.
Currently have well worn Green Stuff pads of about 3 years age which seem barely better than stock Subaru pads to me.

The car is road driven about 3000 miles a year, but is seriously hill climbed in competition throughout the summer months.

It now has about 407 bhp so stopping is getting difficult at times

Question:

What pads (to fit these brakes) have fantastic cold stopping ability?

Not bothered about pad/disk wear
Would like them to be quiet in use
Car is not taken on circuits so no need for crazy anti-fade temperatures.
Not bothered about brake dust either.

Prefer a quality manufacturer such as Mintex/Ferrodo etc

Ideas please!

Ferrodo DS2500 have worked better from cold than stock , mintex or redstuff ceramic for me . I haven't tracked them yet , but I will on monday .

do them . The mintex were as good from cold but were really dusty and squealed like a pig , as they say , much cheaper though .

Personally I like the Mintex as they worked well from cold for me in the 1144 compound. They do squeal a bit when you first fit them, but bedding them in cures that. Only downside is they create huge quantities of dust, but I can't see that being a major issue on a hillclimb.

Pagid's for definite.

RS4-2-1 compound if you want a road orientated that you can use for hillclimbing or RS14 or 15 if you want primarily hillclimb pads that can still be used OK on the road.

Talk to John at Performance Braking in Malvern and see what he recommends, is available for your caliper, he has in stock for your application. They're on 01600 713117. Dead helpful, really knowledgeable, fantastic products.

Graham, i have the 335 godspeed kit, but, for trackdays i use regular 4pot shaped pads, i currently use Pagid 4-2-1 material on the fronts, and ds2500's on the rear as advised by Alyn at ASPerformance, the brakes work well from cold, and once they're a bit warm, well, the stopping power is just unreal, the passenger ends up standing on the floor they're that good, i know i have giger discs, but it's the material thatsdoing the job..... just one down side, awful pad deposits after just one day on track, mind you, thats about 100 miles or so, so with short 'hill' use, and road use inbetween, you may not get any anyway...

if your getting that much deposit move up a notch to a harder pad - maybe 4-2s or 4-4s

Alyn at AS Performance is now advising me on the right combination , and follows along the lines above (ish!)

For the hills many use very soft pads as you do not have track-day temperatures, but with the sticky tyres I use (Kumho V7000/soft) i think I can use the brakes better.

Pagid RS14 with some new quality discs, that's what I put in my 4 pots when I had the 16" on the car. I think Paul Palmer has them on his Legacy now so he may be able to comment.
