Default WRX wheels on a Forester ?

Anyone know if my 18" OZ Prodrive Alloys off a MY05WRX will fit on a MY05 2.5XT ?

Thinking of getting one and getting PPP on it - prodrive recommend min 17" wheels so wondering if my current wheels would fit / recommended ?

Thanks !

If those wheels are the same as a 05 STi then the bolt pattern is different.
(5x114 for the 05 STi) The Forester is 5x100, even for 05 models.

If they are the same as on a 04 STi then they will fit.
What I don't know is whether the WRX wheels had the same change for 05, you may be in luck.

Which P-WRC1 is it? The ET46 fits perfectly although you would be better to use different tyres. The ET53 version is too close to the struts. No worries about PCD, they are both 5x100. If you look on Subaru's site at the pdf for the 05MY 2.5XT PPP it shows the car on 18" P-WRC1 wheels.

nice one - many thanks for the info...

Mike - what's the easiest way to check which version I have ?
Also would you recommend 18"s over 17"s ?

What tyres would you recommend ? - interested to know what difference would be..

Sorry for all the questions...Cheers !
Pete

The choice of 17 or 18 is probably more to do with what you want to do in the car. 17's allow more depth of rubber if you are likely to go onto rough terrain (like the kerbs outside the school ) and are generally lighter, which is important because this is unsprung weight.

However, 18's look better (personal opinion) and allow a lower profile for better handling (and a harder ride). Mine are the OEM 18's with 225/45 tyres. In that size there aren't all that many tyres to choose from, but loads in 225/40, which is close enough.

The easiest way to tell is by colour if the wheels are fitted to a car at the moment. ET 46 are either Crystal Titanium or Rally Gold, ET53 are either Gold, Silver or Anthracite. In either case the offset is on the inner rim.

The tyre size we use is 235/45ZR18 as it is the only size which keeps the speedo calibration within tolerance. 225/45 and certainly 225/40 put the speedo over 10% out on the cars we tested.

Mike, mine are the OEM 225/45-18's so are intended for the original Japanese speedo calibration. As it happens, the speedo is an exact match to GPS up to 70 on mine. (I don't know what happens beyond that, obviously )

According to the calculator at http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html 235/45 is only going to read faster than 225/45 by 1.3%.

Do you mean that the speedo on 235/45 is nearly 10% high on the XT and therefore just within limits, and going to 225/45 takes it just over the +10% limit ?

Edited to add: it looks like 235/40 would work nicely on mine and give me a speedo reading high by 2.4% - and the F1's are available in that size. However, my wheels are 7.5 inch, not 8, so 235 might be just slightly too wide.

Bartop, mine are ET48, and I just measured 7 mm actual clearance between the rim protector rib and the strut. ET53 should reduce that by, um, 5mm so 225/45 may be ok especially if the tyres had a less pronounced sidewall rib than the RE030.

Cutting it fine though. You could always get the tyre/wheel combo you really want (based on what fits), and then get the speedo recalibrated.
