there is something seriously amiss there, have you 'tapped' it off the hub to remove it?? has it had a stone or something jammed in??
very unusual to get this sort of damage without some outside influence.............

I have some of those, probably fitted at a similar time. (No probs though)
Would be interested to see what AP have to say.
Going back to Alyn's point, do you think someone could have given them a whack when its been in for a service or something?

Thats propogated from a very old crack looking at the rust on the majority of the failed area. It could have been a bad casting, it's very unusual to see that kind of failure on an AP disk.

got this back from AP today
so i will be sending the disc back to then for a looksee
Neil,
We are a bit mystified by the pictures of your brakes. The caliper is clearly one of ours, and the disc may be, but the caliper bracket etc. was not made here. I understand that Graham Goode have made some kits up themselves, using our calipers and maybe our discs? There is no harm in their doing this, but as Pete Collen mentions in his mail to me (see below) it would be best if they identified the disc and returned it to us (if it is an AP Racing disc) for examination.
The actual failure is not one I have seen before. I have to say that it is difficult to believe that it is not the result of a heavy impact or the result of a lever being used against the disc?
