Question How much more 'skittish ' are 18" over a 17" ...

...as i understand it "a less sidewall height=skippy/skittish nervous ride" ok on a nice smooth track but how do 18" compare to 17" in the real world (i run 16" at the mo' ) i want the improved feel with 18" but is there an adverse affect on 'on the limit' manners on real[read bumpy] roads?

there's not a massive amount in it to be honest, although they do handle sweeter on 17s and mine have always seemed to spend much more time sideways on 16s

dunno about skittish, mine just tend to grip like a b'stard

i've run 16's, 17's and now 18's. 18's give best grip, no doubt. let go a bit quicker in the wet, might be to do with a bigger surface area on the wet tarmac?(run p-zero's aswell, so i don't suppose that helps )

you will notice a big difference in ride quality if you go up to 18's, i've got uk MY99 on eibach springs and you do tend to feel just about every little bump and pebble in the road!

so to answer your original question, nope, not skittish at all, feels very planted with good feedback when you're near the limit. makes the car a bit 'crashy' but that's the trade off with a rubber band for a tyre noticeable lack of tyre roll.

highly recomended

classic or what ???

classic on 18's without uprated suspension is awful and will wreck your setup.

I disagree, I went from 17s to 18s on my classic and found more grip, ride certainly not unpleasant. I then fitted eibach springs and had geometry done, and this just made things better I did however notice a loss of grip in the wet, maybe the tyres I use (toyos), great in the dry though. My advice is do it you wont regret it, makes car look much better to IMO
