P1 wheels vs Superlegerras....

Am I right in thinking that wheels are, visually, very similar?
I've been trying to find a picture of a SuperL on a car but have failed. I'm on the verge of buying some P1 alloys but reckon I could save a few quid with the SuperL's and not notice the difference....
Any thoughts?

Visually they are very similar....
I've got some on order, coming in September .....they cost me under £600 delivered (without tyres mind). I am not sure I could have got some 2nd hand P1's (without tyres)for that!

I've got both for my P1 I use my P1's as track wheels and SuperL's as road wheels as I scuffed the buggery out of the P1 wheels, both sets will be available for inspection later today at Bedford Speed & Feed .
They look quite different to me, not so much in terms of spokes etc but more in that the P1's have a convex dished effect (they stick out more than the tyres hence the scuffs)whereas the Super L's are more of a flat wheel. Both look good to me.

Nobody has mentioned the weigth of the super L's 7.1kg (17" size) and yes you feel that the pull of the car is much harder. Most 17" wheels come in around 9kg up to almost 12 for a split.
The super L's are liter than the p1 wheels.

Interesting thread. Dangerous to my wallet again! Presumably these will fit on MY00 also? For fitting 215/40R17 Toyo T1-S do I need 7 or 7.5 wheel width? And will this same wheel also take 205/45R17? No danger of rubbing with either of these sizes on standard susp? What if I add Eibach springs also?

SimonH,
Mike at Scoobymania did tell me a while back that he would be able to supply the SuperL's in gold at a small additional cost.

Yes they are lighter as the name states! They feel significantly lighter than the P1 wheel both to carry and through the steering.
215/40's do fit as do the SO2's that I have on them which are slightly wider with no wheel arch rubbing ( on a P1 anyway). 7j width.

hi there. ive bought sum P1 alloys for my My00 turbo, look great in grey. there are brand new off a car That had 18 Inch upgrade, never really turned a wheel, i paid 1000 quid inc. vat with 205/45/17 P zeros fitted to car, dont no if thats cheap or not? but i think there is another set at the same price, not being a snob but you can tell the differance to the look when they are fitted opposse the superlegs, anyone want a set of P1 alloys? john - I'm planning on fitting them to my MY00 so I hope they fit!
PCB - I'd be interested to see what the additional cost was for SuperLs in gold. I've been quoted about £800 for 4 OZ P1 wheels; I should be able to get my SIDC 10% off that too, so they'll hopefully come in at £720ish... SuperLs are what, £600ish?

Contra to Fatboy's comment that his 215s dont catch the trim, I have to say that mine do - Superlegerras 215 40 17 SO2s MY00 Wagon under full load eg 4 adults/sharp corner/speed. Look great though! However I dont have a P1! grumble

Guys there is a country wide shortage of Super L's as they didn't import enough.
They are far superior in build terms and weight but the P1 wheels cost more cos they are made in smaller numbers and only for Scoobs.
Take a look at my thread of today on the General Questions and tell me what you tink man. Thread is titled "Let me stop you there"
