Default Good track day tyres?

I have a MY01 running 18's at the moment. I was just wondering whether to go for another set of 18's or 17's for track days... Also what sort of tyres can I get (looking for something like a road legal tarmac cut slick really)

17 or 18 doesn't make much difference. The main point is to have 2 set of wheels, one with the standard tyres and one with the semi slick. First because if it starts raining it's much better to have "common" tyres and second semi slick tyres will last no more that 5,000 Km depending on use.
I would suggest the new PZero Corsa, they offer an incredible amount of grip.

I already have a decent set of road tyres which I would use in wet conditions.... However I was after the cheapest track day combination ie. if 18's are 300 a tyre in comparision to 50 for 17's then I'll get 17" wheels!!

well, go and check prices , for sure there's going to be some price increase with the 18",; maybe try to get sone used but not thrashed ones.

you'll be lucky to find slicks in 620 / 210 for a 17 m8.

18's will cost you a fortune.

if you can live with the looks drop to 16s as slicks / cut slicks / wets are very sinsibly priced.

alternatively speak to Ian at Palmers as I think he has a source for 18" cut slicks

As I said above it's a MY01 with big brakes(335) so 16'2 won't fit...

Thanks for the posible contact.

can sort 18" 'moulded' slicks...................much easier to source (for us anyway!!) than 17", reasonably priced at around £40-60 for a decent part worn

sorry fizz- saw it was a MY01, which you can fit 16's on, didn't see anywhere that you had big brakes though m8.

doh.. I edited it out anyhow yes 17's are the smallest I can go... Don't the rally crews use 18's on tarmac events?
