Question

This sunday I had a flat in Wales and a long trip ahead of me. All I could get were a pair of P6000 which are on the rear now. Does anyone know if these tyres are any good or should I just use them for the track and replace the SO2s. The car is sliding a bit but that may be the last couple of days weather conditions???

Don't mix P6000's and SO2's (or anything on a Scoob if you want to keep it on the black stuff).

The P6000 is an ok tyre in it's own right (on a Ford Focus or something) but has totally different characteristics/makeup/compound to an S02.

There are a pair of p6000 on the rear, I thought as long as the better tyres were on the front it might be OK. Just thought it might be a big waste of money to have them standing around in my garden, if I was to buy a new pair of SO2 PP.

Its your money and I see your point BUT apart from the driver skills the tyres are the only thing that keep you on the black stuff........

Cheers Dave
I drive round Goodwood tomorrow, I'll take it easy until I see how they handle. Oh and they are on the front now so I can wreck them and get rid of them. Unless I get wrecked first....lets hope not.

Go wreck em boy

As to putting them on the front or back, depends whether you want terminal oversteer or terminal understeer.....

Dave
Well I've spent about an hour and a half cleaning gravel from the engine compartment and now will have to check wheels and breaks. It did understeer but not too bad..it was dry, the car was flying and I was right on the tail of a superlight after a long straight. The chase stoped me thinking of my braking time, different from the Catheram, and I opted for going into the gravel trap. Well that was that, but I'm still alive and it was fun while it lasted. The only other problem was some strange cutting out at 120mph, first time it has happened since I got a new Trust exhaust system fitted. Limiter ????
