Clutch pedal going heavy?

On a couple of occasions I have had the clutch pedal go hard.
Both times this has been after stopping for petrol during a long motorway journey.
The first time resulted in my dealer having to straighted and strengthen the bulk head as it had been bent.
The second time it lasted for about 5 minutes and then was OK again.
Any ideas anyone?
