Question

I have a white type RA and want new wheels and tyres (so I can destroy the old set on the track).
Should I buy 17 inch ?
What type do you guys think looks best ?
Where is best/cheapest place to buy ?
P-zero or S02 ?

help appreciated

Cool

Do a search on this section (Wheels, tyres and brakes) for keywords like SO2 etc. You should find plenty of threads about everything you have posted about.

SO2s are generally recommended by most.

Good luck.

Unless you need 17" to clear your brakes, I would stick to 16" for track wheels, as you can pick up part worn slicks reasonably easily (much more so than 17"), and slicks are obviously much much better for track use.

Wink

First things first - change you name

Then... if you're concidering 17", check with your insurers, as the premium can go up.

Tyres sum up:
17" = better grip (obviously), but cost more.
S02s and Toyos are very popular, SO2s offer most grip.
Pzeros not used by as many scoob owners, but there'll be tons of info if you use the search (top right).

everything you'll read about the S-02 Pole Position is pretty much correct. Very good grip in the dry AND the wet. They're also very quiet which I was amazed at...
The one thing they could have more of is steering feel (but if they tried to improve that they'd probably lose out on smthg else).

I've read that the P-zero have better steering feel and, although I couldn't do a back to back comparison, I seem to remember the Prodrive demonstrator I drove at a UK dealer (17" Speedlines + P-0's) feeling sharper than mine did when first fitting the 17" OZ's + S-02 PP's. (it could have also had Prodrive geometry settings which greatly improve steering responce & sharpness.. so maybe not all down to the tyres).

Upgrading my OEM 16" wheels / tyres to the 17" + S-02's was a big improvement but still not enough. There was still too much body roll and the steering was still lacking feel & responce.

Then - I fitted Eibach's & adjustable Konis and full PRODRIVE geometry. (This was on top of the 17" + S-02).
WOW.

No roll, corners like on tracks, adjustable & controllable when approaching the limits (now I don't know where the limits are !!) and still no engine mods (not even a filter !)
Turn in was improved a lot with the Prodrive settings but it's still not as responsive as a EVO 6 which I had the opportunity to drive a couple of times (and that was still running on winter tyres).

And what are my 17" wheels ?
OZ-PRODRIVE, as on the P1.
Nice.

Looks the part with the Sonic Blue and the red calipers.

Question

Does it matter which width fitting to go for ?

I looked on the Goodyear web page, and their spec sheet for the Eagle shows the tyres available for each rim width. According to this you can put anything from 205 to 235 width tyres on.

From what I hear you need 215/40 17's
205/45 works too apparently.

Due to an INCREDIBLE response to the last add, I have two more sets of 7x17" gold OZ Supertourismo evolution alloys. They are brand new, still in OZ boxes and they are here waiting for 2 lucky scooby owners.

They are £650 for 4, no tyres. THEY ARE GORGEOUS!

I have an emailable picture of them if any one is interested.
