david,

just changed my pads to ds2000, front set were foc from dealer as discs craked, paid for rear set at £140+vat

spend time ringing around but it apears that the recommeded prodrive pads are coded dcs (c = competition) and halfords, although selling ferodo pads, they are not the same uprated type.

Dave, DS2000's are a compound on there own. The next stage is the DS3000. From what I have been told, DS2000's are in-between ebc green and red stuff. But then I may by wrong.

Hope this helps

Thumbs up

Dani is right

DS 2000 is the compound for fast road use. DS 3000 is the racing compound so unless you do track days everyday go for the DS 2000.
PS: The Ferodos Pads for the Scooby (4 Pot)are the same as the ones used on the Nissan ZX 300 Turbo

Check it out

Simo?

What was the best price you found for the DS2000 front pads?

It appears from IWOC that someone paid £38 + VAT for AP calipers.

Are there differing types, or is there only one type for a standard UK 4-pot caliper?

Cheers,

greg

BTW from what I've read the DS2000 should bite fine from cold:

Direct from IM via someone else

"Over the years we have had occasional squeal problems with M1155 and after a very comprehensive test program we now use Ferodo DS2000 as they offer advantages in several areas including cold performance, fade resistance, pedal feel and NVH. the only problem is that as we had to have most of them specially made for the Impreza calipers (hence they are exclusive to us) they are a little dearer than the Mintex pads but they are definitely worth the extra."

On my invoice the part number for the ferodos I've fixed is: FCP 986S

Should add that I bought them in Switzerland as I live there but maybe it's helpful for your inquieries.

Direct info from Prodrive:

"There is indeed an exclusive agreement effectively between Prodrive and Ferodo for some of the Subaru fitment pads. Ferodo were not intending to manufacture the pads as part of their normal range so we had to pay for the tooling to be made, hence they are exclusive to us and as the total volumes made are tiny when compared to most other pad shapes they are inevitably slightly more expensive than other high volume applications.

The price for the 99/2000MY front pads is £140 + vat "

I also want to buy the ferodo pads for my MY99. Iam a bit confused, should I buy the prodrive ferodo pads as they are a better compound? Or is the standard ferodo DS2000 compound adequate?

Views & experience appreciated.
thanks
Julian

Julian,

From what I have discovered there is only one compound, + it appears that IM have a unique deal to supply Ferodo pads, the web site I gave out above does seem to have some that ScoobyMike has fitted but they cost more than the ones from your dealer!

my brother works at FERODO, in Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire (the original site, where it all started).
He tried to get em for me (employee discount) but can't - so no E-mails asking me if I can get en for you, too !!!

Confirm: DS2000 is the compound. Developed in Italy (may be produced there too). This replaces the old asbestos based DS11 compound which disappeared a few yrs ago and its only last year that they finally came out with a good enough asbestos free performance compound. (I had DS11 on my old Mk2 Escort RS MEXICO).

Not surprising that DS2000 are difficult to get and that PRODRIVE / IM may have exclusive rights to SUBARU caliper fitment.

Check out the FERODO site as they list the performance brake maufacturers for whom they have pads that fit.

FERODO part nr FCP 986S - where FCP stands for FRONT Competition Pad... wonder what the part nr for Rears would be ?!!

I run EBC all round on my 94WRX and cant fault them at all. Street kevlar on the rear and Redstuff on the front. Car actually outbrakes itself. My pads and gpN discs were under 300 quid.
