17's catching
#1
Bought some 17 inch Team dynamics today. Just been out and the wheels are catching on the back arches. They are 45 offset with 215/40/17 rubber. I thought these would be ok, is the offset wrong or could it be something else?

Yes mine did the same as the offset is wrong. 3 choices
1) put up with it- it only does it occasionally
2) Change the tyres to 205/45/17's
3) Or change the wheels to the ET50 offset version which they were supposed to be doing over a year ago when I looked at replacing mine.

TMO, i've found out today that the MY96 that i've got has a rubber arch lining and the lip is fractionally bigger and the wheel is catching this. MY00 don't have the lining.

Depends on the offset of the wheels, if they are genuine subaru ie ET50-53 offset you should be OK, but don't take my word for it.

Your shockers may be knackered, but that wouldn't cause the tyres to rub on the arches. MY00 do have a rubber strip around the wheels arches as I think most UK spec cars do.

PS I can't believe what adifference they make to the look of the car
Anyone know the right tyre pressures for these wheels?

Geddon, it varies and you'll hear lots of different advice regarding pressures
Some people go for 35/32 front/rear, 32 all round but I've stuck to 33/30 front/rear, mix and match to your driving style

Just to complicate matters more,
17" Technomagnesio Detroit F1 (ET48) with TOYO 215/40/17 on a MY99, DON'T catch on mine, with the rubber arch trim.
