Bought some 17 inch Team dynamics today. Just been out and the wheels are catching on the back arches. They are 45 offset with 215/40/17 rubber. I thought these would be ok, is the offset wrong or could it be something else?

adge 13 November 2003 11:27 PM

Yes mine did the same as the offset is wrong. 3 choices
1) put up with it- it only does it occasionally
2) Change the tyres to 205/45/17's
3) Or change the wheels to the ET50 offset version which they were supposed to be doing over a year ago when I looked at replacing mine.

Nice one Adge. I've been told by the people i got them off that my shockers may be knackered, what do ya reckon??

tmo 14 November 2003 01:23 PM

I have 17" speedline's fitted, the factory option on my "my00" will these catch if 215 x 40 x 17 are fitted. ??

TMO, i've found out today that the MY96 that i've got has a rubber arch lining and the lip is fractionally bigger and the wheel is catching this. MY00 don't have the lining.

Depends on the offset of the wheels, if they are genuine subaru ie ET50-53 offset you should be OK, but don't take my word for it.

Your shockers may be knackered, but that wouldn't cause the tyres to rub on the arches. MY00 do have a rubber strip around the wheels arches as I think most UK spec cars do.

Yep they are the org. scooby ones, so hopefully ............
anyway i will find out next week when the tyres arrive.:D

Got 17" Speedline Turini's fitted to my type r, ET48 with 215/40 Toyo's, absolutely no problems with catching or rubbing.
Also got a set of Stilauto SR500's with 205/45/17 Toyo Snowprox for winter and again no probs:D

Nice one cheers

Just to complicate matters,
17" Speedline GT1 (ET48) with 215/40/17 F1's on a MY00, catch on mine, you need to remove the rubber arch trim.

Ive also just fitted Speedline turinis 17s to my MY00 with TOYO 215/40/17. No probs at all....
PS I can't believe what adifference they make to the look of the car:)
Anyone know the right tyre pressures for these wheels?

richiewong 17 November 2003 05:04 PM

Geddon, it varies and you'll hear lots of different advice regarding pressures:rolleyes:

Some people go for 35/32 front/rear, 32 all round but I've stuck to 33/30 front/rear, mix and match to your driving style :D

Just to complicate matters more,
17" Technomagnesio Detroit F1 (ET48) with TOYO 215/40/17 on a MY99, DON'T catch on mine, with the rubber arch trim.
