Track day tyre pressures
#1
I've read a few posts already about tyre pressures for track days (for an STI7, standard tyres), recommending that you increase to above 40psi front, and a bit less than that on the rear.
I guess that these are probably dry settings? Or would you usually set the same pressures in the wet?

You could use the same pressures in the wet. With road tyres, the pressure is more to stop the sidewalls from deflecting than anything else. For absolute grip, though you may need to back them off a touch.

40 psi on track with street tyres? You're nuts, especially if that is a 'cold' reading....add 20-30% for the hot reading and you've probably breached the safety rating (check the tyre, there's always a max. pressure), as well as screwed up any chance of making predictable progress
Depends how hard you drive on the road I guess, but with road tyres used on track I always try and get a hot temp that equals my road cold temp.
In the wet the cold temp is not affected, but warm temp is...considerably. Always measure tyre pressures after a few hard laps, results can be surprising.
