I went on a driver training day at North Weald yesterday, and managed to totally destroy my S02's as you can see.

What would you recommend as replacements for mainly road driving and the occasional trackday? I was happy with the S02's but have seen a lot of adverse reports on the S03's.

The current tyres are (were) 215/40 17's

I went from s02 to s03 on a STI 3 wagon. They were awful, After a 1000 miles I went to Toyo Proxies. Very good although probably not as good as the sO2 but close. Also heard good reports about the Eagles.

I went from SO2 PPs to F1 GS-D2 (all on 16s").

I thought the SO2s had slightly more grip but the F1s were much more fun for slidding around roundabouts

Good thing I checked here (haven't visited y'all for a couple of yrs) as my S-02's are also knackered. and I may have gone for the S-03's expecting them to be as good as the S-02's...(??)

I had also had half 'promising' myself Pirelli Pzero's as they supposedly have better steering feel. I'm willing to sacrifice some out-n-out grip (which the S-02 had plenty of) as I don't drive quick anymore.

What's the thoughts on the Pirelli's nowadays ?
I see a lot of praise for the Goodyears... so they're also an option
they're all pretty much the same price here in Switzerland (best price so far >100 quid - unfitted).

I was very happy w the S-02's (on P1 17" OZ wheels) but made a big mistake with my new winter tyres (Pirelli snowsport 16" - they're an accident waiting to happen)

Thanks ScoobyTal.

I just called David at Crossroad Garage (which it turns out is just down the road from me), and now have a set on order for delivery on the 19th for just £200.

I'm looking to replace my tyres soon too.

I went from S02's to S03's on my last car...worst move ever IMO.

Definately steer clear away from them. Especially as they aint cheap !

Hi (Swiss)Steve,

Tyres can be had for less than that in CH - either Bueller or ReifenDirekt.ch.

Falken FK-451's are a good road choice...IMHO...they may have been called 'ditch-finders' by a few on here in the past
