I have a feeling that my front pads and discs are going to need changing in the next 4 weeks - 42k miles. What are people paying for standard MY00 front discs and pads, should I stay with OEM or go to a cheaper supplier? Will this affect the warranty?

Brake pads are perishable and therefore not covered by your warranty anyway.

So the choice is yours.

I know that, but I don't know if Subaru would try and get out of warranty callipers and other related stuff, if I don't use their discs?

Not trying to hijack - but whilst we're on the subject, I need standard vented MY00 rear discs and don't wanna take out an extension on my credit card lol. Any ideas on these too?

Check out the brakes section in Scoobyshop: Crossroads Garage quoted me £160 for front discs and pads all in, rears should be slightly cheaper. OEM units are effing expensive, around £130 per disc plus VAT - pads are around £90 plus VAT. There are some good deals to be had, I've just ordered a full set of DBA discs from JW Racing at a very reasonable price. Not sure how your warranty will be affected, you'll need to check that out with your dealer I think.

Cheers

Greg

Barking up the same old tree, but I've found the Pagid front discs to be OK on my MY00 Turbo, and cheaper than OEM. Pads are your choice, depends on what you use it for really.
Get them from Performance Braking, 01600 713117.

For rear discs I've just replaced mine a couple of weeks back after 60k, got standard EBC replacements from www.spareshq.co.uk for £86 a pair delivered for the vented rear discs, solid are about £50 a pair IIRC.

HTH

Mike.

Just bought (but not yet fitted) pair of EBC non-grooved front discs and standard kevlar(not greenstuff) pads for my MY96 wagon at £134.

Hope this helps
