I'm just about to buy a set of 18's for my classic Scooby.
I know most people use 215/35 18's and I was looking at getting Toyos, but for an extra £75 I can get Goodyear F1's the only problem is they only come in 225/35 18's. As my Scooby is lowered by approx 50mm I am worried that they might rub. Is anyone else running this size on a lowered Scooby and have you had any problems.
Cheers Colin.

Sorry to hi-jack but I have the same problem, the other way around. I have 18's with 225/35's and i've bought a set of 25-30mm eibach lowering springs. The front looks like it would be OK but I'm not sure about the back.......Has anyone done this ?

I will be having 225-35-18 on a lowered car(Eibachs) this week. Someone else on here has also done it but he removed the rubber trims from the arches, I have also done that. I know 100% though that 225-40-18 rub, no question, they are cheaper to put on but only by £60 for four.
What price are you getting the F1's for then, and are they "all in"?

The prices for the F1's were part of a package and I thought for an extra £75 a bargain over the Toyo's, but if they are going to rub it looks like the Toyo's will be the best option.
Cheers for the replies,
Colin.

Had 225-35-18 SO3's fitted yesterday, they just clear the rear suspension (by aprrox 6mm). Last night had 4 bags of sand and 2 bags of cement in the boot (approx 150kilos), gave it a good thrashing rounds some bends, heard no strange noises and NO sign of rubbing, so all smiles really, and best of all the tyres actually look like they fit the wheels now, I only wish I'd had this size on 18 months ago when I bought them
Happy now though. All in all I would recommend this size EVERYTIME, and anyone who says they will rub ask them for proof. 225-35-18 do not rub! 225-40-18 DO.

The best news is I get them tomorrow the bad news is I will be £1150 worse off
Cheers Colin.

i have just fitted 225/35/18 YOKO AVS SPORTs to my classic and they rub
i took the rubber strips of the rear arches and they still rub
the rear tyres have now been worn where its been rubbing and now doesnt rub as much
another 1mm scrubbed of the tyre and i reckon we will be ok

It probably depends how much others are lowered. As i said mine is 225/40s with p1 suspension and it doesnt rub at all. Even with 4 people in the car and a set of wheels.

It's very hard to say this size will fit and that size will not, unless you specify brand of tyre and wheel off-set.
Wheel off-set will obviously make a difference but tyre sizes are only nominal and different brands can vary in actual width by 5mm or more.
Richard.

Is your car lowered Peccy? I'm running 215/35 Toyos and i think the nearside has rubbed slightly but that was with a car full of gear coming back from a camping trip
my car hasn't been lowered though, so wondered if that maybe makes the difference.... i was thinking of going 225/35 but thought i'd better stay on the 'safe' side...
