OK I'm confused about the size of tyres i should get

I'm after some Toyo Proxes T1's

Mytyres.net have:

Toyo Proxes T1 205/40/R17 £73.00
Toyo Proxes T1 215/40/R17 £83.00

The tyres I have at the moment are 205/45/R17 but can't get Toyo's in the 45 profile so do I get the 215's or the 205's
(providing they have them available)

Cheers

Mike

Thumbs up

Subaru fitted 205/45/17 tyres but the 215/40/17 gives the same rolling radius but is a more popular size.. 215/40/17 also gives a bit better rim protection (for want of a better phrase)

I think most people on here go for the 215/40.

I've had them on mine for the last 15k - Toyos seem to last forever. Had a puncture yesterday, most tyre shops closed, so couldn't get a replacement. Decided to replace them for F1s since most people find the Goodyear are better, and they're definitely much quieter. FYI I got the Toyos from Wembley Tyres and cost £400 last year. They're a decent size operation with more stock than most (they had them in stock on the day I needed them) and a nice bunch of guys, too. Hence, I didn't mind paying the few extra quid to get them there and then. I'll call them tomorrow for a price on the Goodyear since the only quote I've had so far is £425 which seems just on the wrong side of £400.

Good news.

Wembley Tyres just quoted me £65 +VAT for the F1 in 215/40 17". Plus valves and balancing @ around £5 each corner. Think that adds up to around £325 all in.

I'm having them fitted Friday when I get my wheels back from being refurbed.

Result!
