TYRES FOR AN ELISE
#1
Does anyone know the best kind of tyres to have on an Elise S1 ??? I currently have pirelli P Zeros on it but they seem to harsh a ride for me. Is there any better handling tyres around. The back tyres are 205/50 R16 and I paid £90 each for them at the Lotus garage. How much are the other tyres if there are any good ones ???

You need to go to www.bookatrack.com and ask on there, Jonny has used pretty much every tyre there is on his Elise's and can get very good prices including fitting. I'm told Pzero's don't really suit the Elise anyway.

You need some Yokohama Advan Neovas. They are available from Lotus dealers and possibly from Jonny5 at bookatrack/tyre. Should be approx £400 for the full set fitted.
So much better than P0's in the wet.

If you get the Yoko Advens make sure they have LTS stamped on the tyre wall. This means they are speacially made for the very light Lotus Elise, I had them on my old Elise and they were fantastic!!!
The P Zeros feel hard as they are developed for cars that weight twice as much!!!

OMG! Lose the P0's quickly! They are crap in the wet on an Elise, as many will testify, well those that survived anyway...
You could try the Yokohama Advan Neo's. They are supposed to be good all rounders and a good replacement for the favoured Bridgestone SO2 which is sadly not available anymore. Don't be tempted to mix tyre combinations, especially not where the dreaded P0's are concerned.
You could also try the Bridgestone SO3. I have heard that these are good, but have never tried them.
Don't know what width you are running, but the fronts should be 195 and the rears should be 225 for the best grip. For more info, check out:

Plenty of stuff on there, or join the Scottish_Elises:

Hope this helps!

If you can travel up to Edinburgh and get your car booked in Murray Motors (Lotus main dealer) then you can get a special on the Advans:
Front - 195/50/15 @ £85.50 each +VAT
Rears - 225/45/16 @ £115.35 each +VAT
Phone 0131 468 7200 ask for WIllie (Service Manager)
Alternatively, squeeze F1 for a deal.. ;-)

Got no chance of squeezing a deal out of F1 they are the biggest money suckers i've ever met !!!!!!!!!
Probably cheaper to buy a house in Edinburgh and deal with them rather than F1 !!!
