Does anyone know how much brake fluid it takes to refill a MY98 Impreza Turbo? I'm going to replace mine with DOT 5.1

Thanks

Gavin

Cool

1ltr was enough for me. I sucked most of the old fluid out of the reservior and filled it with new fluid.

Gavin, remember to flush the system with 5.1 and then fill it up again.

Question

Why do I need to flush it? I thought I'd be OK just drain out the old fluid and replace with the new 5.1

Maybe I'm wrong?

If you drain the system you then have to make sure you get all the air out again.

I would suggest you drain the resovoir but leave fluid in the pipes then fill the resovoir with the new fluid.(best way is to drain it till theres a tiny amount still in the res.)

Now blead each corner untill the new (Clean) fluid comes through
And there are no bubbles

You will have to take it slow and keep topping up the res. so you don't get air in, but it worked for me.

I used about a litre, half of that was to blead the system clear of the old fluid.

I think the system holds about 0.5 litres

Iain.
