Question

Happy New Year folks, Question Time!
I've got an NA MY99 wagon, and I'm upgrading (finally) my stock alloys to a set of nice 17" TSW Apex's.

I've been recommended two sets of fitments:
215/45/17
and
215/40/17

I'm a bit worried that the 45 fitment might be too tight, can anyone advise?

Thanks!

You need either 215/40/17 or 205/45/17, NOT 215/45/17

Thanks for the advice Ian, can you tell me why the 215/45 fitment is wrong? Trying to expand my own knowledge here!

The standard for MY00 is 205/50/16. The 2 sizes I've detailed give a similar rolling radius to the original size - i.e. will not alter gearing / speedo reading (well not by much anyway). The 215/45/17 is a higher profile tyre and the rolling radius would be bigger.

If you look on www.toyo.co.uk there is plenty of technical info on tyres.
