Ive been very impressed with goodyear Eagle F1's I've done 12000 on them so far and they still look less than half worn - They are loads better than the potenzas. They are only a few quid more than the Avons.

Noooooo don't put them on and if they are on, get them off. Quickly, quikly now....
Do a quick search on 'avon' and you will find loads of info.
I've never heard of them exploding but have heard and experienced lots off near off road experiences :/, if you know what i mean. Have a look at some Toyo's. Can't do better for the price IMO.

As the man above said - do a search on "Avon" and read what people on here think of them - they are terrible IMHO.
Had F1's and these are superb, most of my mates with scoobs run them as well and are impressed - some have moved from Toyo to them

Yeah i only just saw it today mate! Sorry. lol
I have checked quite a few posts and it seems most people say no. I looked in the search button and a few said they were ok but loads said they were terrible and nearly had an accident.
I think im going to go with the Goodyears. If you look in this topic for tyres for Scoobynetters, they are quite cheap or if you have a look at My Tyres they are about £102 fpr 215/40/17s including postage etc so i think i will buy it from them. Not worth the risk!

Money,
I've already selected Mytyres as the source for my 205/50/16s £93.90 inc del & Vat. they do seem very good. I may have a price match at my local tyre specialist. P.S National Tyres wanted £220 yes £220 per tyre.

It certainly isn't worth the risk.
When I bought my car I had eagles all round but 1 avon on the rear near side - it was fairly new - eg lots of tread. Went on a Scooby run up to Alton Towers/Peak District, a bit of damp on the road and on every right hander where the weight transferred onto the Avon, the back end would come out It was not funny as it gave no warning at all. On left handers, both eagles and weight transfer to the off side, no problems whatsoever. Sums it up in my book Another worry is how badly Evo rated them in their recent tyre test. F1's came out top , Avons came out bottom.
The way I see it, why buy a car like the scoob, with its reputation for handling and grip, and throw it all away by using rubbish tyres? Better to pay an extra bit of dosh each, have decent rubber that you can rely on and keep you on the road and enjoy the car for what it is - you sure can't with Avon's IMHO.
Get those Eagles and enjoy your car
