Slicks - Supplier (UK)?
#1
Hi,
Had a lot of fun at the first trackday in my P1 last week!
The only thing to go past me all day was a modified Evo6 Raliart on slicks.
Got talking to the guy and he reckoned he got them from Vauxhall Motorsport - ex BTCC slicks used just once. Unfortunately... I didn't get a contact number/address etc :-(
Does anyone have a contact for used slicks?
Cheers,
Marc

I am running the standard P1 Alloys 7x17"
I will need a spare set of wheels for the trackday tyres and will hope to get the same size.
I have done a bit of reading up on these and Barnaby's comment holds true - so I am now looking for cut-slicks rather than full slicks.
Cheers,
Marc

Marc, BTCC slicks don't fit
You can get new slicks to fit, but they never seem to be in stock. Used 17in slicks are very thin on the ground.
You can also get road-legal tyres that are effectively cut slicks, but you're looking at £150 a corner. And can also be hard to actually get.
Been there, done that.
I now use any old road tyres for track days. It's not a race - it's between you, your car and the track. Nobody else. Old road tyres are cheap, you can drive on them to the track, have a great time wet or dry, and maybe drive home on them, too.
I found slicks actually reduced my trackday fun (mail me off line for an explanation). But they are fantastically grippy and raise your God-like driving to even greater heights. If you've not tried them, you're missing a great experience
I believe they also put excessive strain on running gear, notably wheel bearings. Not worth it.
Cheers,
Richard.
