Looking to buy a set of 4 new boots for my Scoob , at present I've got a set of 215 / 40 / ZR17 SO2's , looking around some owners seem to have 45's instead of 40's , just wondering if anyone out there has done the comparison thing & come up with any handling pro's of cons !

Do you mean 215/45ZR17 or 205/45ZR17? The former is the correct size for post MY01 whereas the latter is the correct size for pre MY01 cars.

If you try to use 215/45 17s on older cars they are likely to rub on the arches (as well as overgearing the car).

Hi,

If its a classic shape scoob you can fit either 205/45/17 or 215/40/17. Apparently there is a wider choice of tyres in the latter size, but either will be ok.

As far as I was aware both 215/40's & 215/45's fitted ok , may be wrong , but I seem to have tons of clearance for the latter !!!
Like GBruce says , with the latter size their seems to be more of a choice!!!!

As above, 205/45/17 or 215/40/17 are the correct sizes for MY00 and previous. 215/45/17 will give the wrong rolling radius.

Cheers , will stick to 215 40's I think , set of proxys or F1's that's my next decision !!!!!
