Just about to replace disks AGAIN!!!

Twice in two years, (third set on 99 car), with standard pads on first set, EBC reds on second.

I do not drive particularly hard, mostly motorway. I do realise that discs do wear these days, but do not expect to have to change them this often.

Also, what should I replace them with (standard scoob or aftermarket), and will it affect warranty or insurance?

I think the EBC reds tend to be hard on disks. With my old MY00 I got 22,000 from a set of standard pads and the disks were still ok. EBC Greens are softer on disks.

Changing to other make disks(E.g black diamond from scoobymania) will only invalidate the warranty on your brakes, not the whole car..

Cool

If its MY99 then you wont have much of the 3 year warranty left.

It is under extra 3 years extended warranty.

I suppose it is probably worth sacrifising warranty on brakes. They wouldn't replace the disks under warranty last time they went, so I'm not sure how much I'm sacrifising anyway.

I am assuming that an equivalent aftermarket set of disks won't affect my insurance either?

I wouldnt think so... standard size replcements etc.

I had EBC reds on standard disks... total Cr@p... they never got hot enough as they really need grooved / drilled disks to give them some friction. Scary on motorways and roads with long straights...

As I said in another thread I would try Godspeed 294mm disks and Mintex pads if I was you. I found them a real improvement over the standard setup.

Jon.
PS. Whilst I do have the disks and pads for sale (see other thread)I also have a part used set of Redstuff if people really want to try out what no brakes on the motorway for those few crucial seconds is like with standard disks... £50 inc post... ;-p

I swapped mine for TSL GrpN+ with DS2500 - big improvement.
