Question

I've just been given a set of new Nankang tyres for nothing. I've never heard of them but they do have a symbol on them which looks a bit like the Yoko one????

So, what's the verdict - any good?

Or reserve for trackday fun?

I used to have a Lancer Evo 1 with Nankang's on. Heard from a few people that they were a cheap version of Yoko's. I found them ok plus a mate had them on his 5 series BMW and loved 'em.

Don't know how well they'd work on a Scooby but used to get some drift / oversteer when powering into corners in the Evo. Probably best for trackdays.

Had a set I got from someone with a Calibra Turbo and stuck 'em on for a (wet) trackday at Croft last June so as not to **** up my Bridgestones. To put it in a nutshell, they were sh1te. Everybody was driving round the outside of me, if I pushed any harder, they would just understeer off on to the grass. Or maybe it's my driving
Took 'em off and managed to sell them to some unsuspecting Renault driver for £60.

Theyre whats known in the trade as a budget tyre, not usually recomended on performance vehicles iff there to be driven hard.Ideal tyres for getting through an MOT and selling a car on.Id never put those things on mine.Price comparison=
205/50zr16 nankangs=£50 fitted
205/50zr16 TOYO T1s=£85 fitted
205/50zr16 SO3 B/STONE££95 fitted
Soft tyres, rubbish mileage and very poor grip.

Thanks of the replies guys.

So the conclusion is that the best thing about them is that they were free

I may reserve them for trade in time in that case...

Hello all.

The Nankang has been around for a while, its a good (budget) tyre with a decent life and not bad compound.

Be careful of 2nd hand tyres though if that is what you have got.
