Default Pad falling apart


Hi all. Anybody know why this would happen?
i made it worse by picking it with a screwdriver but was cracked through.

what make of pad is it? either its a cheap pad or you,ve cooked your brakes? were you on track with it or doing some spirited driving?

In all honesty mate its a heavily worn pad...is it a EBC compound by any chance...SJ.

it does look like it has been taken up to levels outside it’s heat range,it does look like he has done it on track or with some heavy braking on the street.SJ.

or you might be right about it being an EBC compound lol.

Cheers for the reply. They are pfc z pads.
I’ve done one track day with them.
Ive got them all round and it’s only 1 pad that’s like it. When I fitted them I made sure they were free in the caliper I could pull them in and out with no resistance.
I spoke to one of the guys a pfc and he said it could of been the pad seized in the caliper when they got hot and expanded

Yeah could be that,how long have the pads been fitted to your car? As the pad that you pictured regardless of the crack is a heavily worn pad.SJ.

One question that i should of asked was were all the pads worn down the same way,or was some of them at higher pad depth?...SJ.

all pads are worn within a mm of each other

I fitted them in August 2018 I did 1 track day and I only do around 2000 miles a year so not done many miles the pads are just under 14mm thick. From what I read they come with 15mm when new
