Question

Heard that the OZ SL's are light because they've made it thin. They cannot take hard driving and pot holes are a no no.. cracks and all.. how much of this is true? I am thinking of outfitting my MY02 with 18". Cheerio..

Basically that is a load of ....!
The OZ are made so light due to them being made in a differnet way to the normal alloy wheel and are made of ALS I 7 which is far lighter than ALSI 9, normal alloys.
Justa production standard, takes longer but you end up with a lighter but stronger wheel.
So they are fine!
However, i have just found a guy who is selling 18" Speedline light wheels with tyres for £1100 inc vat and delivery from Holland.
They are a perfect fit!
How much are the OZ wheels, how much will you save, have a better wheel and then be able to afford something else!!

There have been previous threads on here from people with bent Super L's.

With the roads around my area I went for the OZ P1's instead. They're quite a bit heavier (and dearer) but I've not had any problems with 'em.

Cheers,

Ian.

Unhappy

I buckled my 17's and I certainly did not stuff it in a pothole. No tyre damage in evidence so not hugely impressed but am waiting to see if any of the others go too before passing final judgement.

Cool

Thanks for the input guys.

And yes, my other options are the prodrive gear.. but they're significantly heavier than the OZs. Any other option in the <18lb category is far more costly than the OZs.. you can't win em all, I guess.. =)

The search continues..

Bought 18' SL's from a well known company. On fitting all the paint started cracking and peeling off. They arranged to have them picked up. Came back 2 weeks later a very dark shade of gold but looking good. ! week later the whell completely shattered on me. Had to buy a new wheel. when i picked the wheel up from bristol we found it was different shade completely. the boys at motorsport wheels were more than helpful in getting me a brand new set, even let me run round on a set of 18' OZ Chrono evo's. Had no problems since but am waiting on OZ to see if they will reimburse my money as the wheels were found to be faulty..............

I have 17" SL's and clunked a pothole VERY hard, no bends or damage at all
I suspect OZ have good/bad batches, I know their distributors are crap over here, takes for ever to get replacements/delivery times.

Do you want 17's or 18's?

If so, i have arranged for a dealer in Holland to deliver a few sets for £1,110 inc vat and with quality rubber!!
That is about £5oo cheaper than any other UK delaers for Speedline GT 1 light weight wheels!!
They are the b.........!!
Saw a set today on a 2002, Fantastic!!
Let me know if interested!
